How can we store carbon to save our planet?

As the world becomes more industrialized, we are seeing a rise in greenhouse gases that are contributing to climate change. Carbon dioxide is one of the most prevalent greenhouse gases, and it is essential for life on earth. Through the process of photosynthesis, plants use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide into the oxygen that we breathe. 

The United States has seen a significant increase in carbon dioxide emissions since 1980, and we are losing 0.45 gigatons of irrecoverable carbon per year. This is largely due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil for energy. If we don't find ways to store carbon, it will continue to build up in the atmosphere and contribute to climate change. 

Fortunately, there are some things that we can do to store carbon and reduce our emissions. One way is through earth's natural biomes like forests, wetlands, and grasslands. These ecosystems are important because they act as "carbon sinks." This means they absorb more carbon than they release, which helps to offset our emissions. 

While this is a step in the right direction, it's not enough on its own. We also need to find ways to reduce our emissions. The goals of the Paris agreement were to keep global temperature rise this century well below 2 degrees Celsius and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius. 

However, there are many discrepancies in verifying carbon credits, which makes it difficult to hold countries accountable for their emissions. We also need to be careful not to waste carbon credits by using them for frivolous things instead of investing them in projects that will make a real difference. 

If we want to save our planet, we need to take action now. By finding ways to store carbon and reduce our emissions, we can help slow down climate change and preserve our planet for future generations.
